Potevo forse non aderire? Con un tema a me così congeniale, poi? Giammai :D

Laura "Lupin", who blogs at Bugs and Fishes and is the creator of the link-up, have organized a new spring version of it, and this time the theme is "flowers" . Could I not join in the fun? Sure not :D
So, here's my floral tutorial for the first

Oh, quanto mi piacciono i papaveri! Forti ma delicati allo stesso tempo, resistono alle intemperie, al vento e agli spostamenti d'aria violenti ai bordi delle strade, ma se per caso ti azzardi a raccoglierli per farne un bel mazzetto da portare a casa, ecco che tempo due minuti e sono già morti miseramente tra le tue mani, perdendo tutti i loro bei petali rossi.
Non c'è niente da fare, i papaveri sono fiori che amano stare fuori, liberi, all'aria e al sole. E io li adoro anche per questo.
Oh, how I love poppies! Strong and fragile at the same time, they can resist strong blasts of wind at the side of a road, but loose all their beautiful petals and die miserably in your hands the moment you pick them up.
Poppies are made to live free, in the air and sun. Period. And I adore them for that, too.
Ma allora come fare per portare la freschezza e l'allegria di questi fiori stupendi in casa? Basta creare dei bei papaveri in feltro, ovviamente :)
So how can you bring a bit of their freshness and cheerfulness inside your home? Well, by making some nice felt poppies, of course :)
Occorrente:
✿ feltro rosso, verde acqua (chiaro) e verde chartreuse, misto lana, spessore cca 1 - 1,5 mm
✿ filo semplice da cucito rosso, nero e verde acqua e chartreuse
✿ filo mouliné da ricamo verde oliva (6 fili)
✿ filo di lana nero
✿ ago e spilli
✿ imbottitura sintetica
✿ forbici affilate (meglio se da ricamo)
✿ carta e stampante per stampare le sagome in fondo a questo post.
You'll need:
✿ red, pale green and chartreuse green felt, wool blend, approx 1 - 1,5 mm thick
✿ simple sewing thread in red, black, pale green and chartreuse
✿ olive green embroidery thread (floss), 6 stranded
✿ black wool yarn
✿ needle and pins
✿ stuffing (polyfill)
✿ sharp scissors (better is embroidery)
✿ paper and printer to print out the templates at the bottom of this post.
1. Stampa e ritaglia le sagome di carta. Fissa il petalo di carta al feltro rosso con degli spilli e ricavane 4 petali. Ritaglia anche un cerchietto di feltro verde acqua. Cuci il taglio a V alla base del petalo a punto festone con filo rosso. Con il filo verde, cuci una serie di punti diritti (punto filza) lungo il bordo del cerchietto di feltro, lasciando l'estremità del filo "libera" (non fissare il filo con un nodo una volta finito di cucire) e lunga almeno 10 cm.
1. Print and cut out the paper templates. Pin the petal template on red felt and cut out 4 petals. Cut out a pale green circle, too. Sew the V shaped cut on each petal using blanket stitch, in matching red thread. Sew a line of straight stitches along the edge of the pale green circle, leaving about 10 cm of "free" thread (don't secure it with a knot when you're done stitching).
2. Tirando l'estremità del filo, stringi leggermente il cerchietto di feltro e inserisci un batuffolo di imbottitura al suo interno, quindi tira il filo con decisione fino a chiudere l'apertura, che cucirai da parte a parte sempre con lo stesso filo, a formare una pallina.
2. Pull the thread to sligthly close the circle and insert a bit of stuffing, then pull the thread entirely to close it completely and sew it up with the same thread from side to side, to make a tiny ball.
3. Unisci i petali con alcuni punti al centro del fiore, con il filo rosso.
3. Sew the petals together at the centre, in matching thread.
4. Avvolgi la lana sulle dita (indice e medio) senza stringere; fai circa 20 giri, quindi sfilala delicatamente e legala al centro con del filo semplice nero, a formare un piccolo fiocco. Taglia le estremità per creare gli stami del papavero.
4. Wrap the black wool yarn around your fingers; keep the yarn loose and wrap it about 20 times; then, take it off your fingers gently and tie it in the centre with simple black sewing thread, to make a tiny wool bow. Cut the ends as pictured, to make the poppy's stamens.
5. Fissa la lana al papavero con pochi punti sempre al centro del fiore; usa il filo rosso. Taglia circa 15 cm di filo da ricamo verde oliva e dividilo a metà ovvero separalo in 3 fili; usalo per cucire la pallina di feltro verde al centro del papavero, formando degli "spicchi" con il filo. Fai attenzione al retro del fiore: i punti devono passare sempre per il centro, in questo modo sarà possibile poi nasconderli sotto allo stelo del papavero.
5. Sew the yarn in the centre of the poppy using red thread. Cut about 15 cm of olive green embroidery thread and separate it in half, so this means you'll sew with a 3 stranded floss. Use the floss to sew the tiny ball in the middle of the poppy, making "slices" with the thread. Make sure you stitch the ball right in the centre of the poppy, so that you'll be able to hide the stitches under the stalk later.
6. Taglia una striscia di feltro verde chartreuse di circa 2 x 22 cm. Piegala a metà sul lato lungo, fissa con degli spilli e cuci con punto a sopraggitto (tieni i punti stretti tirando bene il filo ad ogni punto) con filo dello stesso colore. Lascia aperto uno dei due lati corti.
6. Cut a 2 x 22 cm stripe of chartreuse green felt. Fold it in half on its longest side, pin it and sew using whipstitch and matching thread (keep the stitching tight pulling the thread firmly on each stitch). Leave one smaller side open.
7. Imbottisci lo stelo inserendo piccoli batuffoli di imbottitura per volta. Spingi l'imbottitura con un attrezzo lungo e dalla punta arrotondata (io uso il manico di un lungo pennello). Fissa lo stelo al fiore dal lato aperto, con un paio di spilli. Con il filo verde, cuci lo stelo trapassandolo da parte a parte. Assicurati di coprire bene i punti di filo mouliné. Una volta finito, per dargli una forma più "naturale", stringi il papavero nel pugno per una decina di secondi.
7. Stuff the stalk with small puffs of stuffing. Push the stuffing in with a stuffing tool (I use the handle of a long paintbrush). Pin the stalk (on its open side) on the back on the poppy, with a few pins. Use green thread to sew the stalk to the centre of the poppy, poking the needle from side to side. Make sure you hide all the floss stitches. When finished, give you poppy a more natural look by squeezing it gently in your hand for about 10 seconds.

Io ho voluto farne un piccolo mazzetto, a cui ho aggiunto delle spighe di orzo murino (l'idea originale era di aggiungerci delle più nobili spighe di grano, ma sfortunatamente pare non ne coltivino più, nei campi vicino casa mia).
Ho unito papaveri e spighe con un elastico che ho poi coperto con una bordura in pizzo di cotone spesso, legata di lato in un piccolo fiocco.
I've added a few ears of wall barley to my bouquet of poppies (actually the idea was to use wheat ears for my bouquet, but unfortunately I couldn't find any wheat field in the countryside near home) and tied all up with a rubber band that I've then covered with some white thick cotton lace ribbon, tied aside in a small bow.
Non so voi, ma io lo vedrei bene anche come bouquet da sposa, per un rustico matrimonio estivo in una piccola chiesetta di campagna... oh che immagine bucolica! ^_^
I think it would look very pretty also as a bridal bouquet, for a rustic summer wedding in a small coutryside church... oh what a nice bucolic image! ^_^
