(*orrida locuzione tamarroide ma in questo caso rende particolarmente bene l'idea.)
Per fortuna, oltre alla ciccia (di cui farei volentieri a meno essendone già abbondantemente provvista di mio), tutto questo gelato ingurgitato mi ha dato l'ispirazione giusta per un nuovo, fresco tutorial (per la verità, una serie di tutorial a tema gelato, di cui questo è il primo).
The weather is soo hot these days and I'm eating tons of ice cream, just like it was summer already. Despite its fats (which I'd rather do without since I'm already equipped with a nice amount of flab of my own), this delicious summer dessert gave me the right inspiration for a new, fresh tutorial (actually this is the first of a series of ice cream-themed tutorials I'm planning to share with you in the next weeks).
Questo cono gelato-segnalibro è perfetto per chi, come me, nella borsa mare non può proprio fare a meno di metterci anche un buon libro (e sì, anche per chi ama il gelato e le cose coccolose, ovvio).
It's the perfect bookmark for those who can't go to the beach without bringing along a book (that's me). And, yeah, for those who love ice cream and cute stuff too, of course.
Per fare un segnalibro come questo ci vuole:
✂ feltro, spesso 1 mm, nei colori che preferite; io ho usato il beige, il verde menta, il giallo pastello, il marrone, il rosa lampone, il rosa chiaro e il rosso (questi ultimi due solo per le guance)
✂ filo mouliné / da ricamo nero, beige chiaro e di vari colori (per fare la granella di zucchero sul cioccolato)
✂ filo semplice da cucito, negli stessi colori del feltro
✂ ago e spilli
✂ ago e spilli
✂ cartoncino e matita
✂ forbici affilate (meglio se da ricamo)
✂ carta e stampante per stampare le sagome in fondo a questo tutorial.
To make an ice cream bookmark like this, you'll need:
✂ felt, 1 mm thick, in the colours you prefer; I've used beige, mint green, pale yellow, brown, raspberry pink, pale pink and red (the last two are for the cheeks only).
✂ 6-strand embriodery thread (floss) in black, pale beige and in a mix of colours (for the sugar sprinkles)
✂ simple sewing thread, same colours as felt
✂ needle and pins
✂ simple sewing thread, same colours as felt
✂ needle and pins
✂ thin cardboard and pencil
✂ sharp (embroidery) scissors
✂ paper and printer to print the templates at the bottom of this post.
PROCEDIMENTO / INSTRUCTIONS
1. Pin the templates on felt and cut out a raspberry (template 1), a yellow (template 2) and a green scoop of ice cream (template 3). Cut out from brown felt the chocolate topping and use beige felt to make the cone. Pin the chocolate piece on the green scoop and whipstitch along the bottom edge only, in matching thread. Repeat to sew all the scoops of ice cream together.
2. Separa il filo mouliné beige a metà (cioè in 3 fili) e cuci una linea a punto indietro lungo i lati del cono, a circa 2 mm dal bordo. Quindi cuci delle righe parallele intersecanti, da lato a lato, a una distanza di circa 1 cm l'una dall'altra. CONSIGLIO: non è necessario cucire anche il bordo superiore del cono, che andrà nascosto sotto alla pallina lampone.
2. Separate the pale beige floss in 3 strands and backstitch a line along the borders of the cone, at an approx. distance of 2 mm from the edge. Sew a series of crossing parallel lines from side to side, at an approx. distance of 1 cm from each other. TIP: you don't need to sew the top of the cone, as it's going to be hidden under the raspberry scoop.
3. Pin the ice cream scoops on the cone and whipstitch together along the bottom edge of the raspberry scoop. Use 3 stranded black floss to embroider two french knots for the eyes and backstitch a little smiling mouth, on each scoop. Cut out (freehand) a 6-7 mm tiny dot of felt, to make a cheek. Use the first dot as a template to cut out the other cheeks. Whipstitch the cheeks right below the eyes.
4. Usa del filo mouliné (a 6 fili) di vari colori per creare la granella di zucchero colorato sulla glassa al cioccolato.
4. Use embroidery thread (6-strand) in a mix of colours to embroider sugar sprinkles on the chocolate topping.
5. Fissa il gelato su del feltro di un colore neutro (io ho usato il beige) con degli spilli e ritaglia lungo i bordi per ottenere il retro del segnalibro.
5. Pin the ice cream on some neutral felt (I've used beige) and cut out along the edges to get the back of the bookmark.
6. Ricalca il retro del segnalibro su del cartoncino. Ritaglia ad un paio di mm dalla traccia a matita, in modo che la sagoma di cartoncino sia più piccola di quella in feltro di almeno 2-3 mm.
6. Use the back piece as a template and trace its shape out on some thin cardboard. Cut at about 2 mm from the pencil trace, so that the cardboard piece is smaller than the felt back piece for about 2-3 mm.
7. Unisci il fronte e il retro e cuci solo un lato del segnalibro, dalla punta del cono alla sommità del gelato. Inserisci quindi il gelato di cartoncino e prosegui cucendo, sempre a punto festone, con filo dello stesso colore del feltro.
7. Pin front and back together and sew one side of the bookmark only, from the tip of the cone to the top of the ice cream, using blanket stitch. Insert the cardboard piece and continue sewing up the bookmark.
