I like birthdays, they give me the right insiration and make the perfect chance to try and design new things to give away as presents. We've celebrated quite a few birthdays in these first weeks of April! Here's what has come out from the "Birthday Presents' ManuFactory" so far:
a sweet and lovely little daisy, in her tiny clay pot, sunbathing happily with her arms... or should I say leaves open wide ^_^

a life-size felt sunflower; it has wire in its stalk and leaf for proper support, and the tiny seeds at its centre are made of opalescent green seeds. Not the best photo, I know, but the weather that day was awful, the natural light so poor, and of course I waited too much and took it last minute as usual. Shame on me. -__-
and then there's the one I probably like the most, both because it's been on my to-do list for ages (and I love that I finally managed to make one and that it came out so good!) and because I really ADORE bonsai trees ♥ I already know this is going to be the first felt bonsai of a long series. It's been such a pleasure to work on this little tree (and surprisingly a very easy task, too) now I want to make one (two, three, four...) for myself as well! ^_^
I would have rather used a proper rectangular glazed bonsai pot, but I was short on time (again) and couldn't find any, so I used a simple clay pot instead, embellished with a white cotton lace trim.
As I said, I made this little bonsai quite quickly and very easily. The trunk's veinings are machine stitched (I did them free-hand, without tracing anything out on the felt, I think it looks more natural this way) and then I hand stitched the two trunk parts together. That's all the stitching I did! After that I hand cut the leaves and glued them on the branches with hot glue - best part of the whole process! Hot-glueing it's so much fun, I feel like I'm a little girl again everytime I use it! ^_^
